Fiat 124 Cabriolet Touring 1966
L Touring Cabriolet Fiat 124 was the last project from the Touring body.
The Italian Touring body was founded in Milan in 1926, his specialty was the construction and assembly of cars set out, on behalf of other car manufacturers that provided the chassis.
After the presentation of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC, Touring, the body tries again, turns to ask the Fiat chassis of one of their cars as standard to create a new model. Instead of a Fiat chassis delivered to the body over Touring car, a Fiat 124 sedan.
Carrozzeria Touring we worked on it and made the Fiat 124 Touring convertible, which was unveiled at the Turin Exhibition of 1966. The Fiat 124 was a Touring Cabriolet two doors and four seats, a Fiat 124 sedan which had been removed the roof and changed the frame to make it more robust.
Another feature is elongated in the side doors to facilitate access to rear seats and the windshield more sloped.
Touring Cabriolet Fiat 124 was also equipped with hard top in polyester for the winter.
The chassis, engine mechanics and what remained of the Fiat 124 sedan, front-engined four-cylinder 1197 cc 65 bhp, rear wheel drive.
the Turin Motor Show of 1966 received considerable public success, the Body Touring even received compliments from Lambs for a job well done, but unfortunately the Fiat 124 Convertible Touring remained only at the prototype stage, after much ado, Fiat showed no interest in putting into production.
The Touring was in dire straits due to huge debts, because the previous fiasco with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTC removed from production after only 1000 units produced, the sinking of the Fiat 124 Cabriolet project contributed to the closure of the Touring body, which occurred a few months after the end of 1966.
